How Chin Liposuction is Performed
Written by Mia Alexander
The aim of liposuction is to remove localized excess fat deposits and achieve precise body contouring, while minimizing bruising, scars and trauma. Men and women of all ages have aesthetic problems in the chin and neck area such as a double chin, sagging jowls and wrinkles. These issues can be successfully tackled with liposuction. This article tells you how chin liposuction is performed.
Double Chin Liposuction Techniques
Chin liposuction can be performed using the tumescent method or using laser-enabled devices.
In tumescent liposuction surgery for the neck and chin, 2-4 cm long incisions are made under the chin and the ears. A saline-based solution is injected into the area. This solution also contains an anesthetic as well as medication to reduce bleeding and bruising. A small cannula is inserted under the skin and moved back and forth to break up and later suction off excessive fat. The incisions are closed with small sutures which are removed after about a week. There could be some bruising and swelling and the patient would have to wear a protective dressing. This chin lipo procedure could take from 45 minutes to an hour. Patients usually return to work or normal activity within a few days. The final results are seen in a few weeks’ time.
Much more effective and safe is laser-assisted lipolysis for the chin. The latest technology involves a small triple-laser enabled device. SmartLipo Triplex offers excellent results for the removal of a double chin and the recontouring of the neck and jowls. The device delivers energy directly to the area with the fat, liquefying it to allow easy removal. It also works to coagulate the blood vessels, minimize bleeding and tighten the skin. The result is a well-contoured jaw line and enhanced facial profile. Patients can get back to work within a day as the side effects of this liposuction treatment are minimal.
The minimally-invasive SmartLipo Triplex offers several benefits compared to other liposuction techniques:
- A firmer and sculpted jaw line
- Aesthetic facial profile
- Less downtime
- Controlled energy delivery for minimal tissue trauma
- Minimal bleeding, bruising and scarring
- Enhanced skin tightening effects
- Speedy recovery
Compliment Chin Liposuction with a Neck Lift
If you have excessive loose and sagging neck skin, jowls and wrinkles, chin lipolysis alone may not work. Your plastic surgeon could recommend a neck lift or a facelift. This would involve laser liposuction of neck and jowls and/or a facelift for proper contouring of the mid-to-lower areas of the face and neck.
As with all cosmetic surgery procedures, the success of your chin liposuction will depend upon the experience, training and skill of your plastic surgeon. So it is always advisable to do some serious research and choose the right physician.
