How Diabetes Increases Erectile Dysfunction Risk.
Written by Shawn Wilson
The percentage of erectile dysfunction patients is increasing day by day, as there are several reasons behind such problem. But recently an experiment proves that diabetic men are more likely to have erectile problems compared to non-diabetic men. Type 1 diabetes is most dreadful cause for erectile dysfunction affecting about 60% of men population in US. Nerve damage, low blood flow to penile area lead to erection problem. Hyperglycemia (blood sugar) causes low blood to penile chamber affecting the ability to maintain erection.
As our body is network of nerves and arteries, damage to nerves leads to irregular blood supply. The blood vessels supplying blood to the penile area gets affected due to excess blood sugar. As blood sugar not only affects penile erection but also it affects functioning of heart, eyes etc.
How penis get erection.
Penis get erection due to stimulation and the supply of nitric oxide lead to stimulation. Nitric oxide is chemical which causes erection. With uncontrolled blood sugar level (Hyperglycemia) the blood vessels supplying blood to the penile chamber get hard and narrow thus lowering the blood supply & affecting the production of nitric oxide in the penile area which triggers erectile problem. Due to nerve damage the penis doesn’t receive proper signals from brain; it also results in poor blood circulation resulting in erectile dysfunction.
How diabetes affects erection?
1.Nerve damage due to poor blood supply caused due to narrowing of blood vessels results in ejaculation in to the bladder instead of ejaculation through penis such condition is called as retrograde ejaculation. Retrograde ejaculations lead to semen discharge in urine.
2.In diabetes, chemicals known as advanced glycation end-products bring about the stiffening of erectile tissue. These tissues have cylindrical sponge like structures called as corpora cave
osa. Stiffing of these tissue results in malfunctioning of erectile valve generating sexual or erection problems.
3.Diabetic patients sometimes possess risk of endothelial malfunctioning. This results in early coronary complications too.
Fight with erectile dysfunction in diabetic patients.
As the uncontrolled blood sugar and poor blood supply is the root for all problems. Maintaining the blood sugar level is full proof solution for such problems.
1.Avoid drinks and beverages: Drinks and beverages containing high percentage of glucose should be avoided and is the first step to diagnose erectile and diabetic problems.
2.Take doctor advice: A regular visit to doctor for diabetic or regular treatment from urologist help to remove erectile problems. Also complications like stress, anxiety, fear should be avoided as they tend to make the scenario more complex and tough and are one of the reasons for erectile problems.
3.Ask or search: Seek advice from health experts for treatment. If you are using any supplements then don’t forget to get full information about it. Read reviews about the medicines you are using to diagnose problem.
