“How do you know if you're intuitive?" someone asked recently.  "I mean, I think I am, but I'm not really sure what that means."

She's not alone.

Many people wonder if they are intuitive.  Let me start off by saying "Everyone is intuitive."

Now, before you go "Yeah, right!" let me explain.  Intuitive abilities are inherent in each one of us, just as our ability to breathe is inherent.

You see, most people think of intuition as being psychic.  And to some degree, they are right.  But not fully.  Psychic is a much higher level of intuition - intuition that is more refined.   Intuition, on the other hand, is actually a very balanced way of experiencing life.  It involves both left-brain logic and right-brain creativity.  Being intuitive involves paying attention to the subtle and not-so-subtle clues that are given to us every day by life, and the people around us.

Intuition is the ability to see life beyond the five senses.  It is the ability to live your life from a heart-centered, spiritual way.  People who are living in a five-sensory way see life filled with limitations and fear; they feel victimized by others and by life itself.  They feel they must compete with and control those around them in order to feel safe.  People who live in a five-sensory way live life from a place of fear, from the ego.  They do not trust in a higher purpose, and they certainly do not believe they can change their world.

Perhaps you know people like this.

A six-sensory person, on the other hand, lives life (maybe not all the time, but most of the time) with a focus on trust and faith.  They believe they are here for a reason, and have gifts to bring to the world around them.  (And they believe the world wants those gifts!)  They believe they are connected with others.  They believe in possibility and in creativity.  They believe in something greater than themselves, and feel as though they are a part of the whole.

You see, each one of us is six-sensory.  For some, however, the sixth sense lies dormant until one is ready to awaken to it.  Each of us has the ability to trust and have faith - to see life from a higher, broader perspective.  Each of us has the ability to believe in possibility and creativity - to believe in connection with one another at a deeper level.

It is up to us to step into our sixth sense and activate it as we decide.  It is up to us to choose to be six-sensory.

Personally, I think that's pretty awesome, don't you?

There are specific steps we can take to activate our sixth sense more regularly.  I'll be covering these in future ezine articles, so stay tuned.  For now, however, here is one action you can begin to take each and every day to help you develop your intuition more fully.

Your Action Steps:

Every day, begin your day by envisioning it going well.  Hold the intention of meetings being successful, of connections being made that are deep and supportive, of work being completed with clarity and focus.  Tell yourself it's going to be a fabulous, wonderful, successful day!  Envision your day at the beginning of the day going well.  Your ability to envision a positive outcome will help you create the very thing you want.

By the way, pay attention to the moments when you catch yourself grumbling about someone or something - in that moment you are envisioning what you DON'T want, so catch yourself and stop.  Turn the other cheek and begin to envision what you DO want.

Have fun with it!
