A daily, weekly, and monthly checklist for household chores can keep your home life running like a well-oiled machine. And when you’re not preoccupied about what needs to be done at home, you can be more fully engaged at work and while spending time with friends. There are lots of valuable opportunities at home to practice being patient. Pay attention to your reaction when your child spills the drink that you told her to stop tipping. This is a great chance to practice the patience that you will need when you get cut off in traffic tomorrow.

If you can cultivate good habits at home and keep up with them, the rest is easy. Habits are things that follow you from home to the real world. Take time to cultivate and make changes small at first and work to use them wherever you are.
