How To Apply Foundation Properly

Application of foundation is the first step of makeup. Be it bridal makeup, makeup for normal day out, or for night out, perfect coats of foundation is a MUST.

But many of us come with various problems while applying, like – uneven application, wrong choose of the color and getting accumulated over T zone or nose-tip. But these are problems with very easy solution. Before the application of foundation, you must know types of foundation that are available and have to decide that which goes best with your skin type.

TYPES OF FOUNDATION -

• EMULSIONS –
These are suitable for teenagers as the sheen is not much but is available of hiding any scar marks very fast. These are suitable for all skin types and come in tube.
• CREAMS –
The cream based foundation is available in jars and is best for dry skin. The finishing line is glossy and gives high sheen to the skin.
• LIQUIDS –
It does not cover any scar marks, but blend well with the skin. It gives a shiny effect and is best for everyday outs.
• GELS –
It provides a total natural look. It does not hide any marks. If you have normal and even skin tone, this is best for you.
• STICKS –

These are perfect for the oily skin. They come in sticks and provide a drying effect. These are best for hiding any scar marks, but are not to be used normally. The use is strictly for the stage purpose.

Oil based foundation are best for the dry skin while the powder based foundation can be used both for the dry skin as well as for the oily one!

So, now that you know about the different types of foundation you can choose the one that is best for your skin tone. However, it can vary depending on the event you are attending.

Now that you know the types of the foundation available, you should also know how to apply the coat. Following are few simple steps that will help in easy spread of your foundation –

1. The first thing that you need to do is to choose the foundation that is best for your skin tone. However, you can choose a lighter shade if the time is WINTER. This is so because at this time, the skin becomes 1 shade lighter.

2. Never try to blend the solution using your fingers. Rather use a flat topped brush for a proper blend. A dense brush having a flat top suits the purpose best.

3. Dip the brush well into the liquid, put dots into nose, cheeks, face border and chin too. (With a single dip, take the product well, so that it can make prominent dots with enough liquid). Tie your hair well before the application.

4. Start with the nose; spread the liquid in the tight zones from nose towards cheek and also in the border lines. After you are done with this, spread the product in your cheeks too. Do the same for the chin too.

5. Left the smiling lines for the time being (it’s not at all weird... it will get a lovely finishing line).

6. If you are having any dark circles, cover the zone with the use of concealers or you can also hide the zone with a bit heavy coat of foundation.

7. Apply the coat well over your eyelid and spread it in a circular motion.

8. Put dots over your forehead and blend it well.

9. You are just left with the smiling line. Apply just the leftover thoroughly and get the desired result.

10. After you are done with all these, it is the time to smoothen your face using a tissue paper. It will also help in absorbing the excess.

11. Give some standing time around 5-10 minutes and then press your face well with pressing powder. Use a puff for the purpose.

12. Your face is now ready for the further application of blusher, shimmer or any other makeup of your desire.
