To become a College Professor in India, you need a minimum master's degree. First, you become an Assistant professor then you become a college professor.

Becoming a College Professor is not easy as we think. You have to do a very hard and smart study for it. You have to clear many exams and interviews in order to become a college professor.

After clearing many exams and interviews, you become eligible to become a college professor. But keep in mind, you do not become direct a college professor. First, you become an Assistant Professor and after having experience of some years in teaching, you promote to a College Professor.

Exam to become an Assistant College Professor

You have to pass the UGC NET Exam to become an Assistant professor. This exam is conducted by (NTA) National Testing Agency.

When you clear this exam then you become eligible to apply to universities for the post of Assistant professor.

Qualification to become a College Professor

The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks. After clearing Graduation, Candidates have to complete PG – Post Graduation with a minimum of 55% marks.

After completing Graduation and Post Graduation, Candidates have to complete a Ph.D. Graduation, Post Graduation, and Ph.D. you will complete in that subject, of which subject you want to become a College Professor.

Age Limit for UGC NET Exam

There is no age limit in the UGC NET Exam for the post of Assistant college professor in India. The candidate’s age should be from 21 to 28 years for (JRF) Junior Research Fellowship. The candidate should not be more than 30 years of age for JRF.

There is relaxation of 5 years in JRF for SC/ST/OBC candidates.

After completing class 12th, Graduation, and Post graduation. You have to complete your Ph.D. and After completing these degrees you become eligible for the UGC NET Exam.

When you clear the UGC Net Exam too then you can apply to any university for the post of Assistant Professor.
