How to Choose a Christmas Tree Skirt
Written by Donald Baker
You know that Christmas is here when people go on shopping sprees and everyone has a smile on their face. Christmas is a joyous festival celebrated with loved ones and everyone from kids to adults enjoy this festive season. At this time of the year, people entertain guests, so they redo the house with new Christmas decorations. In earlier days, candles were used to light-up the trees until electric bulbs were introduced. The Christmas tree is decorated with various ornaments like baubles, bells and stars available in various materials including glass and plastic. A Christmas tree skirt is usually placed below the Christmas tree.
A Christmas tree skirt is usually used as a decorative feature, but it also hides the Christmas tree stand, from view. Earlier, a Christmas tree skirt was just an ordinary piece of cloth, but now it has become an ornate creation, with embroidery and detailed designs. Christmas presents are generally placed under the tree on the tree skirt and are sure to draw everyone’s attention. While buying a Christmas tree skirt, one should keep a few things in mind:
Sizer
The size of the tree skirt depends on the size of the tree. Some tree stands are large and bulky, so make sure that the skirt is big enough to cover the tree stand. The skirt should not be wider than the average width of the tree branches. In case the skirt is wide, simply make sure you tuck-in the edges. To avoid accidents, keep the tree skirt away from any areas where people might walk.
Design, Fabric and Color
A Christmas tree skirt can enhance the decor of your room. For a festive feel, use velvet with traditional Christmas designs in red, green or white. You can also opt for a simple patchwork tree skirt or plain fabric in neutral colors for a relaxed look. If you want your Christmas tree skirt to be the center of attention, choose lush fabrics and bright colors with shiny metallic thread. The gorgeous satin-banded velvet tree skirts, designed with embroidered sheers over colored linings are perfect for an elegant look.
Another option is to make a tree skirt at home, which requires a little effort. The tree skirts can also be monogrammed for a personalized look. Make sure that the Christmas tree skirt matches your Christmas decorations and sit back and drink-in that special feeling of Christmas cheer.
