Why is it important to calculate the ovulation period?
Ovulation tests allow you to determine the period of maximum fertility of the woman.

Ovulation is the time during which the follicle matured in one of the ovaries is expelled and enters the fallopian tubes. The egg cell, once in the tubes, is ready to be fertilized if it finds spermatozoa ready to wait for it. In this way, conception could take place, i.e. the union of the egg cell with the "chosen" sperm to form the zygote.

I have chosen the One Step ovulation tests.
Like many of the readers who are reading me right now, before evaluating which ovulation test to choose I read a lot of news online to get an idea. At the end of my analysis, I came to my decision and decided to find the best ovulation test 2020 among all available on Amazon.

Ovulation hormones
Ovulation is regulated by the pituitary gland, a gland located at the base of the skull, and although it is very small, it performs an important function. It is from there that the hormones FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone), which act at the level of the ovaries, start. The ovaries in turn also produce hormones, estrogen and progesterone, in response to the stimulation of the pituitary gland hormones. When a woman is about to ovulate, her body releases a large amount of LH (luteinizing hormone). LH is always present in the urine but levels increase in the middle of the menstrual cycle, causing an egg to be released from the ovary.

The stages of ovulation
Every month a woman's body undergoes numerous changes. After menstruation, the pituitary gland increases the production of FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) which stimulates the follicles of the ovary. The cells in the follicles begin to mature and in turn produce estrogen. An increase in estrogen in the blood causes the pituitary gland to reduce FSH production. By reducing FSH in the blood, the dominant follicle is selected, which will then release the egg cell, which will further enlarge and produce more estrogen. All other follicles that had started to mature degenerate. The high level of estrogen in the blood is picked up by the pituitary gland which starts producing LH, the luteinizing hormone that is detected by ovulation sticks.

The hormone LH causes the follicle to rupture and thus the egg cell ready for fertilization is released. This is the time of ovulation. LH acts further on the burst follicle to transform it into a corpus luteum which in turn produces estrogen and progesterone (the progesterone produced is responsible for the rise in basal temperature that is recorded the day after ovulation) that prepare the uterus for pregnancy.
The egg cell remains inside the tubes for 24/36 hours at most, if it is not fertilized it degenerates and menstruation arrives.

Ovulation test
Single-phase ovulation tests are in vitrio tests that determine the quality and quantity of LH in the urine. The test detects an increase in the concentration of the luteinizing hormone prior to ovulation.

When to start the ovulation test?
First of all, you need to calculate the duration of your cycle to determine on which day to start ovulation testing. The average cycle duration runs from the first day of menstruation to the day before the start of menstruation the following month.

How to perform the ovulation test?
Unlike pregnancy tests, ovulation tests should not be done with the first urine in the morning. It is preferable to take the test late in the morning or between 10 am and 8 pm, but without drinking the previous two hours. Pee should be collected in a clean, dry container and then left at room temperature for about ten minutes before the test (it seems that if it is hot it will alter the results).

How to read the test
To determine the result, the two lines must be compared. If the color of the test line is almost the same color or darker it means that the test is positive, ovulation will occur within the next 24/36 hours. The result is negative if the test line is more faded than the control line or is not there, while the test is invalid if the control line does not appear. Results will appear after 5 minutes, results read after 30 minutes should not be considered reliable.
