In the old days, all the facial skincare you needed was a bar of soap, a face towel and some clean water. Nowadays, you need a cleanser, toner and scrub to clean your face. Here's how you can deep cleanse your skin and get your skin glowing again. 1. Wash your hands with soap and water. 2a. If you are using a cleansing lotion, milk or cream, dot your forehead, nose, chin and cheeks with the cleanser. Using your fingertips, massage the facial cleanser in circular motions into your skin. Then use a clean cotton ball to wipe away as much of the cleanser as possible. Splash water on your face to get rid of the rest of the cleanser. Pat your face dry with a towel. 2b. If you are using a facial wash, put a dollop of the wash in the palm of your hands, add water and work up a lather. Close your eyes and apply over your entire face. Rinse with plenty of water, with your eyes still shut. Pat your face dry with a towel. 3. Boil a kettle of water. Prepare a clean, empty porcelain bowl on a table and a bath towel. 4. Fill the bowl with boiling water. Sit with your face 12 inches above the water and drape the towel over your head to form a tent over the bowl. Let the steam deep cleanse your skin for 10 minutes. 5. Dot a facial scrub on your forehead, nose, chin and cheeks. Massage the scrub gently in circular motion with your fingertips to slough off dead skin cells. 6. Rinse off all traces of the scrub with plenty of water. 7. Soak a cotton ball with a facial toner and apply the toner over your entire face, avoiding your eyes.
