How to End Procrastination Permanently and Reclaim Control Over Your Life
Written by http://instituteofselfmastery.com.au/about-us/meet-the-founder-felicity-muscat/
If you struggle with procrastination, and are avoiding what you have set out to do or its a mild dream you cannot seem to ground, you are not alone! Our tendencies toward procrastination are driven by old emotional programming hidden deep in our subconscious minds. This programming reveals itself in the form of negative, limiting beliefs and fears. If we don’t work to overcome our negative programming, it becomes an emotional straitjacket that robs us of our power, our free will, and our ability to act on our dreams. It leaves us perplexed as to why we can’t even get started. Many people that come to me often say its easier to just give them an answer that will leave them feeling less ashamed. These feelings of hurt and shame lead one to want to isolate themselves. The good news is this is not your fault and the worst part is the program running in your mind will beat you up for it, saying you need to get more motivated, more organised, come up with a plan first etc. If this is in your mind, you know what I mean.
The negative programming that causes procrastination is actually foreign to who we really are. It shouldn’t be inside you at all! It can be frustrating to live life carrying around the burden of fear and negative programming, unable to do the things you want to do and feeling like a bad person for not doing the things you know you should be doing.
The good news is, it doesn’t have to be that way! It is now possible to systematically and permanently delete, erase, and uninstall this toxic programming from within once and for all.
There are many limiting beliefs that cause procrastination, and you might have any or all of them. If you have a tendency to procrastinate, it is likely that one or more of the following statements will ring true to you:
- I don’t have what it takes to succeed.
- I’m inadequate.
- I lack self-confidence.
- I’m afraid of failure.
- I’m afraid of being criticised or judged.
- I’m afraid of being humiliated.
- I’m angry or resentful about having to take responsibility.
- I can punish others by being a victim.
- I need someone else to rescue me or take care of me.
- I’m afraid that my friends and family won’t like it if I’m successful.
- I’m afraid of other people’s envy or jealousy.
- I feel that I don’t deserve success.
- I’m afraid of having to make my own decisions.
- I’m afraid of having to be totally responsible for myself.
- I’m afraid of growing up.
- I wish I could continue being a child.
If any of the above statements resonate with you, you can probably already tell how restrictive these feelings and thoughts are. These are thoughts and feelings that paralyse you mentally, emotionally, and physically.
What would happen if these thoughts controlled you all the time? Your life would collapse!
This programming comes from old emotional baggage that you gathered earlier in your life from all sorts of negative memories. You may have been abused, abandoned, humiliated, or neglected. Or the memories may be more everyday: failure, embarrassment, or bullying at school. Whatever your limiting memories are, they leave emotional scars that stay with you through the years.
These memories work on your subconscious and give you evidence for why you should procrastinate and avoid acting. Your programming tells you that you shouldn’t try because you will fail anyway, because someone will make fun of you for it, or any of countless other possible reasons. You won’t notice this consciously because the programming is working on your subconscious. You are a slave to your programming without even knowing that it is there.
Like a computer, you’ve been given a task that you can’t avoid doing. This task isn’t something you want to do, though; it’s instructions to remain helpless, stuck, and submissive. Your subconscious tells you to stay weak, dependent, and failure-ridden. These tasks make you unhappy; your programming hurts you.
Just over a decade ago, we discovered that we can actually erase and delete this programming. With help, you can become free from the negative memories that make you procrastinate and that trap you in a cycle of failure. You can take control of your own life again.
Once you are free from your negative programming, you will be able to move forward with strength, confidence, and a sense of empowerment. You will be able to put procrastination (and all the other negative habits that come from emotional baggage programming) behind you.
Are you ready to make this powerful change in your life? I’m ready to help you! Let me show you how you can take control of your life and give you a direct experience of this process.
