You’ve got an interview approaching. You desperately want this job. You would like to be sure to give yourself the best chance of getting this job. Great! To do that, there are some things you can do to help.

The Aim Of An Interview

One thing to consider to get a job interview is to have a think about the purpose of an interview. A job interview is where a representative of the company meets you to ascertain a number of things:
• If you're able to do the job in question
• If you might be a good fit for the business
• If the salary expectations of the two of you are similar

You've got to be capable of going in and prove the initial two points. The first point, being capable to do the job, releates to how good you match the job description as well as the role being offered. Naturally, you wouldn’t be there if you didn’t think you had the ability for the job! This point, however, is more about the recruiter wanting to determine whether you can do the job well enough for the company and will fit the function that has been advertised.

The next point is how the recruiter attempts to decide if you'll be a good cultural fit for the company. Culture is a large part of workplaces these days, and it basically translates to the environment and personality of workers and the company in general. If the company values creativity highly, they would want to see this in you. The same goes for teamwork, intuition, hard-working, dedication, and any number of characteristics.

The third point, the salary expectation, is a bit different and in reality has room for negotiation. I’ll write more to do with this in a future post, but if your objectives don’t match the recruiter’s, then one of you will need to adjust or the job offer won’t proceed.

How Do I Meet These Criteria For An Interview?

So, we’ve outlined some points that make up the basis of a job interview. Now it’s time to work out how we can turn the odds in our favour and understand how to face an interview.

Research and Be Prepared

Among the most important elements of the interview procedure is really looking into the organization you’re making an application for. This can be more than purely the name of the organization and the place they’re based in. It is best to find out more on their mission, the type of workplace they have, what their workplace demands are, what their main projects or products areitems are, who their main customers are. All this information can help you in the interview process, by showing how thorough you are with your work and how much you'd like the job at the company you’re going for. It will help you adjust your interview method to make sure you’re a good fit for the business. You can talk up various traits of yourself that match the company’s values. For instance, if you’re a bit of a perfectionist and discover the company values good quality products, you may mention that you’re perfectionist attitude ends in good quality work.

How To Face An Interview - Have Confidence

Nothing beats confidence in a social scenario. Well, perhaps a few things in an interview, like topic expertise, but having confidence goes a good way to getting a job. This isn’t just confidence of getting the job - it’s assurance in your own skills, confidence in your communicating ability, confidence in the company you’re going for. If you act and speak with confidence, you’ll come across as a person that knows what they are doing and what they want, which could increase your chances of the recruiter offering you the job!

Be Polite And Professional

Manners and politeness are one of the most significant parts of an interview. The method that you act before, during, and after the interview will say a lot about who you are as a person and will be included in the recruiter’s assessment of your application. Ensure you smile when you greet the interviewer, and stay calm. There’s no need to panic during the interview. If you’re unsure about a particular question that the interviewer asks, you can ask them for clarification. It’s better to ask for clarification that to make something up and get noticed as someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about!

I try to consider these points whenever I know how to face an interview, and I like to think it may help my chances of landing the job.
