In order to find your best self, it's important to learn about yourself first. Finding the “real” you can be an enlightening experience, as it allows you to be fully independent and do the things you never thought of doing. It's hard to explain this kind of feeling technically, but not knowing what kind of person you really are can be a lot more difficult than that and it's something you can't easily ignore. Here's how you can find your very best self!

Step 1: Find Yourself
No doubt. Life is busy, and it can be overwhelming at times-- family, work, children, priorities, commitment, responsibilities, illnesses, friends, studies, and the list goes on. It's a never ending struggle, but this doesn't mean you should let it overpower you.
For some, whenever they feel lost and stressed, they try to be busy with other things in order to avoid confronting their fear or flaws. It's true that being busy all the time can give the comfort you need, but this doesn't mean that the problem will be solved.
On the other hand, knowing that you are lost will give the advantage of knowing how you can resolve the problem. Take this as an opportunity to find yourself, and take a journey to find out the real you.

Step 2: Create a Life Timeline
Jot down all your major goals in life and see which ones you have already attained, and the ambitions or goals you're still trying to achieve. List all the events that already happened in your life and describe how it affected you.
The problems and misfortunes you experience in life also shape your belief system, and it could influence the way you think. Try to see if there are some problems that made you think differently than how you used to.
As you analyze the negative experiences you once had, try to figure out what you have learned from these.

Step 3: Focus on Your Thoughts
For some, life can be pretty bring and nothing but a routine. You'll go to school, graduate, look for a job, tie the knot, and that's it. This makes other people get tired and sick of life, because it restricts a person to grow.
Sit down and try to think about your own beliefs that aren't restricted on what the society wants you to think. If you have all the freedom you need, where will you be right now, what will you be doing?

Step 4: Rely on Yourself
In order to find your true self, you must learn to be confident and rely on your abilities. Not having self-worth will turn you into a society's puppet that can be swayed easily. Learn to trust your instincts and believe in yourself. In this process, patience is important, and don't be too hard on yourself either.

Step 5: Take Time Out
Giving yourself some space is very important. Never use the excuse, “I don't have time!” Instead, try to look for ways on how you can reflect deeply. Going on a holiday or retreat is often suggested for this.
Just try to take a week away by yourself every year, and try to connect with your true self. Get away from all the stress, worries, and the pressures you regularly deal with. Spend some quality time with nature and see how wonderful life can be.

Step 6: Follow Your Passion
Believing in something or seeing a beauty in something, means go for it without thinking what others may think of you. If you found something that you want to try, take risks and exert some effort to attain your goal. This will allow you to discover your true purpose in life.

Step 7: Be Yourself: Everyone Else Is Taken
Accept who you are as a person and don't try to live up the expectations of others. Forget what they think of you, because it's impossible to please everyone. Likewise, even though you are trying your best to not disappoint those who care for you, if you believe you're doing the right thing, go for it. You weren't born to just fulfill the demands and wishes of others.

Sometimes, people you know may get anxious, jealous, mad, or afraid once you become better than them. They'll try their best to drag you down-- never allow these kind of people to control nor manipulate you.
