Ever have a project that was never completed and just haunts you? Yeah, me too.

I wish I could say I finish everything I start, but that wouldn’t be telling you the truth.

Like many entrepreneurs, I have a lot of ideas. A lot. And my starting energy is high for projects I’m excited about. Can you relate?

So I’ve had to learn not to start on every idea. I’ve had to learn to be disce
ing.

Now, when I commit to a project, it means I’ve taken the time to answer this question: am I willing to do what it takes to complete this?

At the beginning of a project, you’re full of the possibilities. The potential outcomes. Once things get underway, though, you have to gradually replace those possibilities with realities. The choices that have to be made to bring something to life.

To finish something, you have to replace down-the-road possibility with right-here-and-now reality.

That can be as energizing and exciting as when you first began your project! Here’s how:

One of the things I talk about in my work with people on the impact they want to have, the positive contribution they want to make, is showing up. It’s a pretty core aspect of your impact: how you show up every day. It’s not always the grand gesture or the big project.

Your impact shows up the way you do, in your business and in the projects you’re working on: every day. You have impact in the way you show up to finish a project.

Showing up doesn’t mean just being there and occupying your space in a chair. Showing up means being conscious and deliberate about how you’re choosing to be in your business.

Showing up means having the confidence to take up the space that the Universe has provided for you in this project you’re working on. Having the confidence to finish it, even if you’re not sure it’s going to work.

I could talk here about how to finish a project in terms of breaking it down into small steps, finding people to collaborate with, getting support. But that’s for another article.

Here, now, I’m asking you to show up. Show up with the confidence to take your deserved place in this project and what it will do for your business, and put your heart and mind and resources into finishing.

Something about this project called to you, or you wouldn’t have come this far. Because of that, you’re uniquely qualified to do it. And you have the ability to complete it.

There’s big energy there, in completion. Motivation, satisfaction, and finding out what needs to be next – they all live there.

How will you show up in this project you’re working on? Will you bring your confidence so you can finish it? I hope so. I know you can.
