How To Get Better Grades At School
Written by suresh vishnoi
Remember the days when as children we used to get our report cards from school? After all one card would have reflected my activities of the entire year. What could be worse than that? One fine day my father called me to him and made me understand the value of grades.
I realized how I was playing with my studies and soon started trying techniques to upgrade my grades so as not to face any sort of trouble to get my admission in a reputed college in the future. I started limiting the amount of time I used to browse the Internet and watch television.
It helped to focus more on studies and to throw out the garbage that I was taking from television and Internet. I used to jot down all the points that the teachers repeated. One of my teachers once said that they repeated those points in the class purposely for us to remember.
Every day after coming back from school what I used to do was to review my notes. And, this habit helped me to keep the information fresh in my mind and also made it easier to study less during the exam times as I already had lots of information. Earlier, I used to hesitate to ask any question in front of the entire class but slowly I started clarifying my queries in front of all my class mates. It used to clear my concepts in certain subjects.
I was basically a late riser, but after that strong discussion with my father, I found a unique change in my nature. I started waking up early and studying early in the morning, a time when the mind is fresh. And, even after coming back from school I used to study for at least for two hours before going out for games with my friends to maintain the flow.
I would ask my teachers for their feedback on my academic performance. My friends and I began studying in a group. When you study with others you get the platform to share your views with others which is very necessary. Maintaining a healthy relation with the teachers also helps to improve your grades because they reflect your academic performance clearly. After working hard the entire year, my father’s words that day finally made its mark on my life.
I couldn’t believe I had passed with a distinction this time. Some of the steps one can follow in order to get better grades at school are:
1. Attend all your classes and avoid missing them
2. Develop a regular study schedule
3. Avoid procrastination
4. Get plenty of rest
5. Be proactive
6. Follow a nutritive and balanced diet
7. Stay well stocked with stationary
8. Sit in the front row of Class
9. Ask questions and clarify your doubts in class
Lastly, what matters most in getting good grades is the determination within to achieve it; because after all- Where there is a will there is a way.
