How To Get Rid of a Male Yeast Infection - What You Need To Know
Written by William Fowler
It is important for a man to know how to properly treat male yeast infection. Because the condition is more common in women, most people believe that men cannot be affected by this disease. However, men can also develop the disease or become infected with the candida (yeast) fungus through sexual intercourse or any physical contact with a woman who has the condition. Therefore, it is important for men to learn how to cure a candida infection in order to prevent the symptoms from getting any worse.
Before you start looking for remedies and medications for your disease, you must first find out what caused it. For example, drinking alcohol and eating moldy food is one of the common causes of fungal infections. If it seems that your candida infection symptoms appeared after you have drank alcohol or eaten moldy food, stop drinking and eating those foods so that you will not keep on feeding the candida fungus. You will be able to get rid of the disease faster if you stop the activities that seem to be causing it.
You can help prevent the symptoms from getting worse by keeping your genital area clean at all times. Use a soapless cleanser to clean the affected area and let it dry completely. Wear cotton underwear to improve the air circulation in the affected area. Fungi thrive on damp, dirty and moist areas, so keeping your genital area clean will help prevent fungi growth and treat male candida infection.
There are some natural remedies that you can try at home to reduce the symptoms of the disease. One of them is applying yogurt on the affected area. The active bacteria that are found in some yogurt products will help kill the candida fungus and prevent the disease from getting worse. Washing the affected area with a solution of warm water and vinegar can also help reduce the candida fungus.
After cleaning the affected area, it is best to use topical over-the-counter medications to speed up the healing of yeast infections. Hydrocortisone and antifungal cream are the most commonly used topical over-the-counter medications for treating this disease. You can also try combining a clotrimazole-based cream with a cortisone-based cream. You can buy these creams from almost any drug store. However, these topical over-the-counter medications may not work on serious cases of candida infections.
If your disease does not go away after treating it with topical over-the-counter medications, then you may need to use prescription-only oral medication. Visit your doctor and ask for a prescription for antifungal medication. Prescription-only oral medications such as Diflucan are very effective and can help get rid of your candida infection in one dose.
