When we work with our customers, one of the biggest joys that we get as professionals is to be appreciated for the service that we provide. We all work hard as knowledge workers trying to perfect our craft. One thing that no professional enjoys is when your client discusses the value that you bring to the project is not what was expected. You never want to be in a position where your job is on the line for job performance. It is up to you to make sure that never happens and we have provided some tips that you can use to help impress your client.
When you are working with your client and you are expected to deliver a completed task on a certain date then please make sure that you meet your deadline. Clients do not like people that are unreliable and miss their deadline to complete an assignment. The more time that is allocated to a task then the more money that the project cost would be overrun. No one wants to spend more money on a service or a product than expected. Make sure that this is never a problem with you and deliver your assignments on time. If there are issues that would push your task completion date then talk with your manager to help manage client expectations. This will really help drive the outlook of the work that you do by the client.
Another way to impress the client is to always deliver quality work. You need to take pride in your work and your abilities as a professional. You need your client to think that you are the best person for the job and no one can do this job better than you. You need to demonstrate your subject matter expertise and professionalism in performing a job. You need to stay current with industry trends and serve in a consultative role to the client.
You can demonstrate your value to a client by simply making sure that the work that you do is high quality and delivered on time. This will go a long way in making sure that your client is happy with your job performance and ensure that your manager knows how valuable you are to the project. All of this equals job stability and job growth for you which is something that most people would want to have in their careers.
