How To Keep Toddlers Preoccupied At Home?

Summer vacations pose a challenge for parents to keep their little ones busy throughout the day. Taking them out may not be a preferable idea, as blistering heat might irritate them. The best solution would be to keep them indoors and to keep them busy. An active toddler needs lot of attractive activities to keep him occupied.

An ideal toddler day is spent by moving from one activity or toy to another, including eating and napping time. After naptime, the toddler gets active again. If you know your child routine well, then you can plan accordingly.

To begin with prepare a play area for your toddler. Put all his favorite toys there. Create a space, where he can enjoy playing independently. Slowly as the routine is set, he will play for longer hours all by himself. Some toddlers spend long hours colouring, dancing or playing with toys.

It is better to be organized and to have a schedule. Your planned scheduled should include both fun as well learning activities. Include proper breaks in between for the child such as for eating, bathing, napping and sleeping.

Ascertaining a routine is important for you as well as for your child. A routine will provide him a sense of structure and arrangement. If you have a nanny, maid, or family member spending time with the toddler, then make sure that they follow this routine.

Include good blend of physical activities and learning games. You can incorporate indoor games to arts and crafts, and spare some time where you can let your toddler watch some television, but not too much.

You can channelize your toddler’s energy towards fun physical activities like indoor sports, indoor games, dancing, balloons etc. Dancing is the most favorite activity of toddlers. It is not only rejoiced by them but others as well.

Some learning activities also work great to keep the toddler occupied. Some of them like building blocks – which have letters or numbers on them and come in different colors, flash cards, puzzle etc. All these games not only sharpen their minds but also widen their interests in different games. Reading books to the toddler is another great way to develop your toddler’s interest in books. Also, it will boost his reading habits. You can keep a separate time, where you can read nursery rhymes and stories to the child.

Make sure your toddler makes best use of the time, learning new things, besides cashing all fun.
