How to Make Existing Website Compatible with the Mobile Phones
Written by katherine buxton
According to current mobile internet access stats the demand for mobile web application development is increasing rapidly. Since now simple websites were considered online presence of a business and they were only compatible to the desktop computers like PCs and laptops. However, the trend has changed and now application development is required for mobile phones in order to make a website compatible to different mobile phone platforms. This is because every website is taking a fraction of its total traffic from mobile users. According to reliable sources mobile internet users are increasing and have reached 20% of the total internet traffic. This number is continuously increasing as new smart phones are coming in the market with advanced features related to internet access.
In order to create compatibility between your website and mobile devices some software packages are required. Such software packages or suites are available in the market according to the website features. But in some cases the required web application of mobile phones for the website according to its backend technologies cannot be found. In this instance, there is an option of custom mobile web application to integrate the website and the mobile phone platforms which can be done by a service provider. The backend systems like CRM of Microsoft, Oracle’s Salesforce.com and SAP may have wireless applications with them. They don’t make sure that the website is accessible on all mobile phone platforms.
Customized application development for making a website compatible to mobile phones is a little difficult job but nothing is impossible. There are few things which are required to be done to achieve this goal. No doubt the advancement on the technical side in this field is theatrical and in a very short time period a newly entered technology becomes older as another takes its place. On the contrary there are some people who prefer the use of new technology at the first place because usually people want to use such technology which is proved to be efficient and effective than other technologies.
There is also a fear found among mobile users is that it is a wireless network and problems of data reliability, usability and performance should be solved first then they will work on the customized mobile web application. But actually this is not the case there are reliable technologies and tools available. Microsoft.NET Compact Framework has all the tools to develop effective and efficient mobile web application software. Through .NET CF a mobile website design can be prepared with a broad range of web applications. Ordinary data driven applications can be created with the use of some tools like Formotous and Spyware in a quick and easy way.
Huge business giants have their own software houses to maintain mobile websites and their application development as well. This ensures the security of the data and the application technology. However, mobile web development is on the rise and there are various online service providers for mobile phone application and websites development.
