A home is a space where you feel safe, loved, and appreciated – not just the house you live in. If your home hasn’t felt like a paradise recently, there are plenty of things you could do to change this. Everything, from the paint you choose for your walls to the decorations and accessories you put up in your house can affect your mood and general well-being. If you want to start feeling better in your home, you could just do a couple of simple tricks and completely transform your house. You can create your sanctuary within days with these easy-to-follow tips! Imagine your ideal home The first step you should take on the way to a better home is imagining what you want the home to be. If you think your home has to follow trends and be modern to look and feel like heaven on earth, you are very wrong. rnYou can discover what your ideal home look like by scrolling through some pictures online or in magazines. Something will surely inspire you and that is when you should try to capture a feeling. Don’t search for a look for your home – search for a feel! Paint it differently To enjoy the space you live in, you’ll have to soothe your senses. You could start from the eyes. For instance, what are the colours that bring peace or joy to you? Vibrant and neon colours could be too much for the eye to take in.rnFor this reason, neutral colours such as beige, white, and grey are better options for your walls. You could always add some splashes of colour through furniture or accessories. Yellow, green, or blue could be perfect for this. Clean it thoroughly There is no way you could create a sanctuary in your home without decluttering first. If the place is messy, make sure to work through the piles of stuff and organise them better. You will immediately feel more relaxed and the space will seem larger.rnOnce you’ve done decluttering, you should start deep cleaning the rooms. Make sure to do the carpet cleaning, effective cockroach pest control treatments, and have your upholstery cleaned as well. Then, you’ll know the house is flawless when it comes to hygiene. Invite natural scents When it comes to the senses, you shouldn’t stop at your sight. Instead, you should create a full atmosphere by inviting some fresh smells into the home as well. Of course, think of what soothes you the most and start buying.rnFor instance, you could get some scented candles. They are pretty cute and they can smell heavenly. Another idea is buying essential oils or making your own blends. You could also grow your own herbs and let them fill the room with their charming smell. Get some plants Flowers are also great when it comes to fresh and gorgeous smells. They are perfect since they are very pleasant visually as well. Even better, houseplants can be a part of your sanctuary. Thanks to the benefits of plants, you should put some in each room!rnNot only plants, but other natural elements could be more than welcome in your home. For example, materials such as wood or bamboo will enhance your connection with nature. Earthy tones such as brown and green will also look great in your house. Light it properly Natural light is another thing that makes your home more comfortable. Giant windows are always a good idea because of this. Make sure to invest in the right window treatments to gain full control over the lighting. rnWhen the sun sets (or before it rises) you could use some candles. This will create a calming atmosphere quickly. Especially if you paint your home in some gentle tones, you could enjoy the early morning or evening even more. Make little altars Finally, you can make some altars around your home. This doesn’t have to be anything large. A small corner will be enough for a small table, a statue, or a crystal. rnThis should be your space. You could use it for meditation or practising mindfulness. Even a reading nook can serve as an altar if you just play some soothing sounds and put a bowl of water there. Conclusion rnMaking your sanctuary isn’t as big of a task as it might sound. As soon as you become aware of your needs, you’ll be able to create a home both aesthetic and functional!
