If you are lucky to go for a cross country road trip, you must be excited about it. Anybody would be eager, isn’t it?

Nonetheless, you need to prepare well for the months-long road trip. You cannot go wrong with a few things, but of course, you can be flexible if things don’t go according to the plan. Here is a list of things that you must pack when you are planning to be on the road for a long time.

Two small suitcases are better than one large luggage

Since you are going to be on the go at different places, you would endure different weather conditions as well. Winter and summer in India are on two extreme sides. Therefore, you must prepare in advance for the tough weather conditions. Pack your summer and winter clothes, shoes, and accessories in two separate bags rather than stuffing everything in one large luggage. You can take out the luggage suitable to your needs, and let the other one rest in the car.

Group your things

Just like you sort your clothing according to the weather, you need to group the other things in the car as well. You can make separate bags for your shoes, foods, drinks, disposable utensils, unbreakable utensils, cookware, and spices. You may want to cook or camp somewhere, and if already have your things sorted out, you would not take any time to bring out each bag you need.

Be prepared for unwanted situations

Hunger is the bigger evil of any human being than a car accident. You must be prepared to handle your snack attacks. Carry loads of healthy snacking options in your car such as homemade sandwiches, granola bars, Indian snacks, and non-soda cold drinks. Prefer to have fresh juice wherever you can rather than consuming packed juices. You can buy an ice-box and store your food in it for a long time. You can also buy an induction cooker and use it to reheat or cook food whenever you want.

Be prepared to deal with road mishaps

You have to be practical in this regard and know that you may incur an accident on the road. It is inevitable sometimes if you are driving on the Indian roads because most drivers are not professionally trained. Even if you are perfectly driving on the right side of the road, you will not even realize when the other driver hits you. Therefore, you must have the emergency numbers of the local police station and a few local relatives or friends.

Since everyone carries their contact numbers on the smartphones, they don’t remember even important numbers. You must memorize the phone numbers of your family members by heart so that you can at least contact them in case of a road mishap. When you hire Car Rentals in Chennai, for example, you can give the contact number of your parents or siblings in the documents. Since you are going to be on a long road trip, you must be prepared for everything in advance.
