Unwanted hair is the common problem in both male and female, but this hair growth causes irritation and embarrassment in women. Excessive hair growth in women is called hirsutism. Hirsutism is growth of long and rough hair on the body other than head. The medical term of Hirsutism is hypertrichosis. This is symptom rather than a disease. The unwanted hair most commonly seen in upper lips, cheek, chin, lower abdomen, legs and toe. Reason for hirsutism: Sometimes ethnic background or heredity may be the reasons for hirsutism. Commonly women produce low level of male hormone (androgen). But hirsutism can be cause to increase the level of androgen. If the body make excess amount of androgen, growth of unwanted hair will increase. Certain medications such as hormones or steroids also become the factor for unwanted hair growth. Most common reason for unwanted hair growth in woman is Polycstic overy syndrome (PCOS). PCOS cause due to excess production of androgen hormone. 70 to 80 percentages of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome have the unwanted hair growth problem. Adrenal hyperplasia, obesity. Insulin resistance, Cushing ‘s disease these all also be the reason for hirsutism. Hair removal methods: rnShaving and plucking are the mechanical methods to clear the unwanted hairs. But plucking is highly painful. This plucking method is not applicable in the large hair areas.rnWaxing: It is the common method of hair removal, used by many women. It is more effective than shaving or plucking. Wax is accomplished by applying wax combination layer over the skin. A cloth is pressed on the skin and remove the cloth in the opposite direction of the hair growth. When you are waxing, hair will be removed with roots. So hairs will not grow back quickly. We can prepare the wax material at your home. Mix equal quantity of sugar and lemon juice in a pan and heat till become melt like a thick honey substances. Add some glycerin to it when it is hot, then allow it to cool and store it, this is the herbal wax material. Laser hair removal: Laser hair removal is the latest cosmetic technique to remove hair. Laser will kill the hair follicle. So this is the long lasting method for hair removal. Generally three or four hours requires for do this treatment. This hair removal treatment is expensive and sometimes painful. Electrolysis: Galvanic and Themolytic are two methods using in electrolysis. In galvanic method, Some chemical applied on skin to destroy the hair follicle. But in themolytic methods . heat is used to destroy the hair follicles. Natural methods: Oral medications and topical medications are also used to remove unwanted hair from the body. But most of these medicines are chemical. How do we know these medicines are safe for our skin? These chemicals may cause side effects like skin irritation and redness. Prefer natural hair remover , this will not cause any side effects. Regular use of these herbs like Ashok, Lodhra, Shatavari, Abhrak Bhasma, and Mandur Bhasma helps to remove un wanted hair from face.
