Your choice of baby cribs will go a long way in helping with the comfort and wellbeing of your newborn. Babies spend most of their time sleeping. Thus, before you choose a crib you need to consider a number of factors and choose wisely. SafetyrnBaby cribs need to be made up of safe materials and built using strong construction. When you buy a crib, make sure the mattress fits snugly and tightly. A mattress leaving a wide gap between its edge and the corner of the crib is unsafe for a toddler. Also, make sure there are no broken or missing parts in the construction of kids furniture. Finally, the crib you choose must come with a “Juvenile Products Manufacturing Association” certification, which indicates it has been tested for quality and safety. ConstructionrnThe baby cribs you shortlist must have slats that are bunched close enough together to ensure your child does not slip her head through them and get stuck. The ideal gap between slats is less than 2 3/8 inches. Also, kids furniture should always be constructed for stability and strength. Before you buy, give the crib a shake. If it wobbles or feels less than firm, get another one. Bedding rnThe mattress you buy must be firm. Breathable fabrics like cotton are ideal for sheets. You will need the following bedding: a mattress, pillow and pillow cover, one or two sheets, and a quilt. Avoid frills, ruffles, and any design in which your baby can get entangled or feel uncomfortable. Also, look for a crib that lets you adjust the height of the mattress easily. When the baby starts sitting up, you can lower the mattress for extra safety. Accessories rnHanging toys attached to the kids furniture should be placed such that they are out of reach. The cords and other parts can be unsafe for the baby. Ribbons and strings should also be avoided inside the crib. Crib gyms should be installed securely at both ends so they cannot be pulled into the crib. Ensure you don’t leave toys and bottles inside the cribs. Safe and comfortable baby cribs are crucial for raising a happy, content, and healthy baby.
