How to take Care of the Skin of Your School Going Kids
Written by Vivek Ranjan
We always try to maintain the beauty of our goods like cars, furniture, electronic goods or other belongings. But as these things become old, they start losing their beauty. In the same way, age affects the beauty of the human beings. As human beings, it is our innate nature that we want to stay young and beautiful. We don’t want our skin to experience the skin problems. A proper care in the childhood can avoid many skin problems in the adulthood. There are a host of things that impact our skin, either directly or indirectly. As kids, our skin is so soft that even a mosquito bite can cause a great damage to us. All children’s skin should be taken proper care of. It is important to teach your children from a young age how to take care of their skin. There are things that parents can do to protect their kids’ soft skin from being damaged. A few tips have been briefly discussed below:
1-Protection from sunlight- As kids’ skin is soft like cotton, so the sun rays may be very harmful for them. Children should be outdoors when the sun is directly overhead. The morning sunlight, however, is beneficial for the bones of the kids. Parents can apply sunscreen lotions in their child’s skin, but strictly the one made especially for kids. For older children, use a broad spectrum sunscreen – one that protects against both UVA and UVB rays, and with an SPF of 15 or higher. On the skin, this lotion should be applied at least half an hour prior to the exposure to sun.
2-Bath properly- A daily bath with proper care of skin can be of huge benefit. The moms need to use natural baby products for kids. This keeps their skin smooth and shining. Coconut oil can be applied to the baby’s skin because it is very light and the skin can fully absorb it. Some children have allergies from some products. So do check whether the product suits the baby’s skin or not before applying it.
3-Bug Protection- If the baby is to be taken outside for a long period of time, it’s always best to apply insect repellent with a child approved dose of DEET (Diethyl-meta-polyamide). Long sleeve tops, long trousers, caps and sun glasses are best protectors against mosquitoes
4-Skin Care Regimen- Baby’s skin should be cleaned with a fragrance-free, hypo-allergenic, soap-less cleanser. Bubble bath can dry out baby’s skin, so it is advised by child physicists not to use bubble bath very often. Scrubs and cleansers should also be avoided because these may create irritation in the child’s skin.
Apart from all these, the diet of the baby has a great impact on their skin. A healthy, nutritious and balanced diet is essential for a child’s growth and general health. Parents can consult a doctor to prepare their kids’ diet chart. Oil should be avoided, as much as possible, in a kids’ diet. During the dry season, massage of the skin with oil, before bathing, goes a long way in keeping the skin soft and clean.
