In regards to TV programs and downloaded videos, you do not just have to watch on your PC screen but on your TV as well. In order to watch both TV programs and videos from your PC to TV, here is what you should check and do.

1. First of all, check the back of your PC or the side of your laptop for an S-Video cable. If you do not have, you can get video cards from your nearest PC store for just under $100.

2. Secondly, look at your TV inputs. Like PCs, most TVs also have S-Video ports for you to connect it with S-Video cable. Otherwise, check to see if your TV has at least an RCA cable.

3. Next turn off your PC or laptop. Then connect it to your TV still on. Once that is done, switch on your PC or laptop to give your TV a chance to detect for any available external display.

Now that I have explained the procedures, I am going to tell you the 3 essential things you need for everything to work smoothly.

A. TV Tuner

There are various types of TV tuners ranging from expansion or TV tuner cards to external TV tuners. They can all be connected to your PC or laptop through an USB or IEEE 1394 port.

If your PC or laptop does not have one, simply go online and search for Windows Hardware Compatibility Centre. Upon entering the site, just enter and go through its list of TV tuners that are compatible with your PC or laptop.

B. ATV Signal

Based on your TV tuner capabilities, it may be likely to connect it to your PC or laptop from an over-the-air antenna, a cable jack within the wall or just a set-top box.

Whether these types of ATV signals are available depends on the TV signals available in your country or region. For a clearer answer, you may like to contact your local cable or satellite provider.

C. Software To Download, Install And Watch TV Programs
There are several types of software that enable you to download, install and watch live, encore or delayed telecasts of your favourite documentaries, dramas, movies, variety and sports.

If you are using Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate, you already have everything you need through Windows Media Center. Otherwise, you will have to upgrade to either one of these editions or get a reliable third-party application.

If you are still not sure, simply go to Windows Vista Help and do a search for TV Tuners, TV Signals or Windows Media Center.
