How Would You Migrate Easily From MobileMe to iCloud

MobileMe is an internet service from Apple for Mac, iPhone, iPod touch, and PC that is meant to access and manage e-mails, contacts, calendar, files and photos on the web at me.com. As of now MobileMe has stopped accepting subscriptions from new users. With the introduction of updates to OS X 10.7.2 Lion and iOS 5, the users of MobileMe can migrate their accounts via iCloud. If they migrate their account on or before June 30, 2012 they will get a free 25 GB account. iCloud is the latest cloud service from the house of Apple that helps in storing and managing photos, music, apps, calendars and documents. It also helps you in pushing these documents and programs wirelessly in all of your devices.

Earlier, Apple had developed a special URL to enable migration of MobileMe into the iCloud but that was available only for developers. It is important to use the right process for the migration.

However, now users can also migrate their account by following certain steps. Below mentioned are the steps you need to perform while migrating your account to iCloud from MobileMe:

• Navigate to http://www.iCloud.com followed by signing in to your MobileMe account
• In the next step you will be told to move your MobileMe account into iCloud to sign in. Click the “Get Started” to start the account migration
• Now you will be directed to mobileme.com. You would again need to sign in with your MobileMe login details
• After you log in successfully, click on the “Get Started” button to launch the migration wizard
• Click “Next” to confirm that you want your mails, calendars and contacts to be copied from MobileMe to iCloud
• Take note that you will be using MobileMe services until June 30, 2012 and click on “Next”
• You must acknowledge that after moving to iCloud or else you will not be able to access sync Mac Dashboard Widgets, Keychains, Dock Items, Rules, Signatures, Mail Accounts, Preferences and Smart Mailboxes.
• Click “Requirements” to continue the wizard
• A new window will appear before you where you have to ensure that you have updated your devices to iOS 5 and Mac OS X 10.7.2. Now click the “Next” button
• Ensure your contacts and bookmarks are up-to-date on at least one of the devices. You are advised to take back of your contacts, bookmarks and calendars before migrating finally to iCloud.
• Now click the “Move to iCloud” button. This will result in the transfer of your data from MobileMe to iCloud
• Once the migration is complete, you will be prompted to endorse alerts for each of your devices.
This way you can successfully and conveniently migrate to iCloud from MobileMe.
