The codeshare flights have many advantages for the airlines but for the passengers it often comes as a shocker that the airline which booked the flight is not operating the same. The passengers often get surprised since they are not aware of the codeshare agreements between the airlines. The result could be hassles at the airport which the flight booking counter will send you to the operating flight counter for boarding the flight. Therefore, to save the hassles, it is important to identify whether your flight is a codeshare one or not. Here are some ways in which you can identify such a flight.
1. From the display board: If you see two flights operating between the same two destinations on same airline model and at same times of arrival and departure, then there is a good chance that one of these is a codeshare flight. So, when you come to the airport, you shall read the display carefully taking note of these same flights.
2. From the operating hubs: Before doing the air tickets booking, you can make a fair guess of the codeshare flights by knowing the hubs of airlines. This information about the hubs can be gained easily. Here is how to spot a codeshare flight using the hubs information. For two airlines operating flights between destinatio
1 and 2, the airline which has one of these destinations as its hub is more likely to be the operating carrier ( the carrier which will fly you) whereas the other one will be the marketing carrier (the one on which you do the booking).
3. From the alliances: Many of the international carriers have formed different alliances by entering into agreements. These agreements could be the basis of knowing whether there is a codeshare agreement as well or not. Mostly, if the codeshare agreement exists, it is more likely to be between the alliance partners, not outsiders.
4. From the route maps: Before doing the flight booking of air tickets, it is good to have a look at route map which can be usually found on the website of the airline. This route map generally shows which sectors are flown by the codeshare flights. So, if you are travelling on these sectors, you would be flying on codeshare ones only.
