Important Nail Care Tips For Men
Written by Vibha Sharma
Nails play a vital role when it is about grooming one’s overall personality. There is a common misconception that men do not need to take care of their nails. However, it is equally essential for men to take care of their nails just as it is significant for women. Men should pay special attention to their nails because they (nails) are usually thicker and grow quickly. Your nails reflect how serious you are about your personal hygiene. Brittle, yellow nails may spoil your overall appearance. So to prevent social embarrassment, you need to follow a good nail care regimen that will help you get healthy, shiny nails.
If you are one of those men who have to perform a lot of physical toil, your nails may become dry and brittle. Here are few essential nail care tips for men:
The first and foremost step is to keep your nails clean. There should be no stains or dirt on your nails. You can clean your nails while having your bath or with the help of nail brushes. Be sure you clean your nails at least once in 2-3 days.
For clean and healthy looking nails, you must cut them once in a week. Trimming your nails regularly will avoid any cuticles to grow. Long nails not only look ugly, but also are more prone to accumulate dirt. So keep them short, keep them clean.
Your nails need to pamper sometimes. Go for a professional manicure at least once a month. With little research and practice, you can also do it yourself at home. Buy a good manicure kit from the nearby departmental store, follow the instructions given in the kit, and get started.
Make sure you apply a moisturizing cream to your hands and nails after washing your hands. Sounds, like girly affair. Let it be. Remember that prevention is better than cure. Harsh soaps can make our hands dry and nails brittle. So you must moisturize your hands and nails to prevent dry skin and brittle nails.
This is the most effective way of cleaning your nails. Damp your fingers in lemon and lukewarm water for 15-20 minutes. It will help you get healthy, shiny nails within few minutes.
A majority of men have a bad habit of biting their nails. You should stop stay away from this habit. It is not only unhygienic, but also may cause many infections.
Drink at least 10-12 glasses of water. It will keep your nails shiny and healthy. You should follow a well-balanced nutritious diet. Include foods rich in calcium for healthy, beautiful nails.
