Now that you have bitten the bullet and asked for a date, you will want everything to go smoothly. Hopefully, you have chosen to date someone that you have enough in common with to keep up a good conversation during your date. The purpose of a first date is to get to know each other better. Take advantage of this opportunity to show your interest and find out everything you can about the date of your dreams.

The first thing you should take care of before your date is your appearance. It isn’t necessary to look like Brad Pitt, but you should be neat and well groomed. Put some effort into your appearance; it will be noticed and appreciated. You should also know where you are going on the date so that you can dress appropriately. It is also a good idea to let your date know where you are going so that she can select her outfit as well. This will set the tone of your date. If you start of with a good impression the rest of the night will be smooth sailing. Maybe.

Don’t be late. The worst thing you can do is show up late for your first date. It tells a woman what she can expect from you in the future. No one likes to be kept waiting. It is an inconsiderate waste of her time and a very arrogant act on your part. What many women think about a date that shows up late is that you have no regard for her time. You feel as though she has nothing better to do and wait for you. That is not the impression you want to put in her mind before your big first date.

Always be polite. Show some manners on your date. It will show your date that you respect her and others around you. If you choose to bring your cell phone on the date, make sure that it is off. It is exceptionally rude to have your cell phone interrupt an intimate dinner date. It shows a woman that you are interested in spending time with her and no one else if you choose to turn off the phone.

It is also very important to be yourself on your date. That is not to say that you should be rude or too casual, but you should state honestly what your opinions are and let her know who you are. Many people are on their very best behavior on a first date and let them act like someone they are not. Don’t make this mistake. If the relationship progresses you don’t want any surprises later on.

Most of all relax and enjoy your date. It is supposed to be a fun night out. There is no reason you can’t sit back and enjoy your wonderful evening out.
