India Rising, Are You Ready?
Written by Prof Blesson Abraham
It was a hot and humid day as I was taking a stroll on the main street that leads straight to the Charminar in Hyderabad. Apart from the sweltering heat that almost took my smile away, the day was rather pleasant. I had come from Bangalore the previous day and the heat there is bad these days but not as merciless as it gets here. Apart from the humididty and the heat, I am falling in love with this city. I like the people. They have been very welcoming and friendly.
My walk on the Charminar road could simply be described in a single word – ‘AWESOME!’ I wish my fiancee was with me. The shops that were displaying its exquisite array of pearls and other jewels. The colourrs of the sarees and the salwar khameez’s displayed was simply breathtaking. The spices spread and aroma that would tickle one’s senses. The tender cocnut and the cane juice vendors were good enough to keep my body hyderated under the scorching sun. The street was picturesque. A genuine display of the poem, “The Bazaars of Hyderabad” by Sarojini Naidu.
While enjoying the sights and sound of this nation, I feel proud to be among the billion plus people who call themselves, INDIANS. The are people who are on the rise. India is risisng. This is a nation that is simply breathtaking to watch. Anyone who rise above the given situations will not have a smooth sailing journey. And when it is a nation that is on the rise, challenges doesn’t beg to change. The blankets of poverty, price rise, corruption and the gap between the rich and the poor continue to haunt us.
However I believe that the new generation will rise above these challenges. I believe that my generation has a job on our hands. A job to be thinkers, communicators and doers who will not choose to vile away the given time. In our journey we will commit mistakes and it is ok to commit mistakes. It is only human to err. However while committing mistakes, it is significantly important not to dwell on our mistakes but to rise above it and move forward in our journey. The journey that is distinctively Indian and one that belongs exclusively to India. If you say that it is not my job to lead and belong only to the politicians, remember that you are running away from your responsibility to lead. You are denying your right to be part o the young rising India.
India, the land of opportunities is waiting for you to play your part. The question is are you ready? If you are, let’s do it. Arise and shine for your light and time has come to lead India to the next level.
