Infrared light is basically electronic magnetic radiation that falls between the wavelengths of 0.7 – 300 micrometers. Infrared light is commonly used in both military as well as civilian activities. In military practices infrared imaging is commonly used for activities like surveillance, target practice, night vision and tracking. Infrared radiation is below the harmful radiation levels and comes in handy for a variety of treatments and monitoring purposes. One such device which effectively uses infrared radiation is the Thermographic or Infrared camera.

The Infrared (IR) camera functions on similar principles of a normal camera by picking up available radiation and creating visible light. However unlike the normal camera the IR cameras operate in the range of 14,000 nanometers. IR camera works on the basic theory that all objects emit a certain amount of body radiation depending on their species or category. In simple terms the higher a person’s body temperature the higher the radiation they emit. Even in total darkness it is easy to find a person using an IR camera. It is therefore that Thermographic cameras are successfully used for rescue operations. There are several uses of Thermal Imaging photography. Firefighters find a Handheld Thermal Imager highly helpful as it can help them find human presence in a damage site even through dense smoke. People maintaining power lines can easily locate any potential damages that may occur and successfully prevent it.

Infrared technology finds great importance in the field of medicine. Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging is a common method of medical testing that does not include any exposure to harmful radiation. In this method a Digital Thermal camera is used to capture Thermograms or Thermal images. These images are taken by thermal professionals who then pass it on to the concerned doctor to evaluate any present or underlying medical condition. Medical DITI technology is a relevant way to find any existing lesions within the human body or the progress of any particular ailment. With results it is possible to catch the ailment in its tracks and isolate it before it progresses.

There are plenty of sources where you may buy any required thermal imaging equipment, however quality of the equipment needs to be of utmost concern. One of the best ways in which you can judge superior quality is word of mouth reviews through your peers who may be using similar technology. Another valid review source is definitely online reviews and testimonials which will help you get an overview of the various options available for you.
