We all want to start the new day refreshed and rested. However, if we cannot sleep, we can be tired upon awakening and tired throughout the day. We may find it hard to focus, making mistakes in our work. And of course, lack of sleep makes us irritable and feeling down.

If you know someone with insomnia, you will be familiar with how debilitating it is. Insomnia can be defined as the inability to sleep through the night (for shift workers, this is the inability to sleep through your sleep time). This could manifest as difficulty going to sleep, difficulty staying asleep, or both.

As an energy healer, I see insomnia as an energy imbalance. When you fix the energy imbalance, then sleep naturally ensues. So what causes the energy imbalance, you may well ask, and how to put it right?

The good news is that there are a number of natural and holistic energy healing options. And this depends on whether you wish to take the active or passive role in healing your insomnia.

If you wish to take the passive role, then attending Reiki, Shiatsu, or Acupuncture sessions on a regular basis are good. The biggest advantage is that you do not have to participate and can be mentally absent during the session. The disadvantage is that although many people do respond with a few sessions, you may need to keep attending sessions indefinitely. However, this is a very small price to pay for good-quality sleep. If taking this route, your practitioner will recommend a frequency of sessions, and it is good to follow their advice.

If you wish to take a more active role, then you have choices between a semi-active role such as attending kinesiology, a muscle-testing and treatment regime such as Allergy Antidotes or Body Talk, or a fully active role such as EFT or Tapping. And depending on the skills of your practitioner, you can also have a mix of active, semi-active, and passive roles to get a combination that suits you. One advantage of these systems is that they can isolate the causes of your insomnia and release their energy at source. These causes are energy disruptions caused for example by certain illnesses, necessary medicine that you may be reacting to, pain, discomfort, or anxiety, foods, something in your environment, or a variety of negative emotions. Once the relevant energy disruptions are released, then your energy can flow properly and your insomnia can become a thing of the past. Another advantage of some of these systems, and especially EFT or Tapping, is that you can be taught how to do it on your own and carry on at home if need be, say if budget does not allow seeing a practitioner till you are done. One disadvantage with EFT or Tapping is that it is usually unsuitable if you have schizophrenia or psychosis. However, that is not an issue with many other techniques that rely on muscle-testing and treatment. If in doubt, a good practitioner can advise you as to what treatment or combination is best for you.

So, you have a number of options to heal that energy disruption. Remember that it is only energy after all; and one way or another, there is a solution that is right for you.
