Is Fashion Affecting The Teenagers?
Written by Harry Yadav
“Fashion, fashion and fashion”, the entire world is running after this word. Fashion is the word which has become the key word for the entire world. One who is not fashionable gets less preference than the one who is fashionable. Fashion is mostly understood by people as a well-liked style or practice mostly in outfits, footwear or accessories.
It refers to the recent trend in regard of dress up or outfit. Fashion can be a powerful thing as it reveals the creativity in people. The word fashion is often replaced by the word trend and it is quite unpredictable as big companies appoint designers to set up what trends will be followed in the next year in advance. The present generation has engrossed themselves in fashion so much that they hardly get time for other valuable activities.
They try hard to imitate the models in the fashion magazines or the celebrities of the film or glamour industries. Now, they spend majority of their time in malls for shopping and less in their studies and other work. They prefer malls to go for a shopping because they believe it’s useless to buy stuffs that are not branded because they think if they buy their stuffs from any other place it will lower their self-esteem. They have made shopping their hobby and favorite pass time. They are still unaware of the reality that they can use the time doing some productive work.
The fashion statement in glamour world changes with the season. Accordingly, the teenagers also change their wardrobe. Mostly teenagers give priority to the fashion and style of the day. Even if they are unaware of the world affairs they will remain aware of the latest fashion. Earlier people of elite class and business tycoons mostly used to follow the recent trends. But despite of the status of the people, even people belong to middle class status also follow and maintain the present fashion.
In fact, the school going children are more fashion conscious than adults. They keep the information of the present trend and even the upcoming fashion. It has been founded by researchers that teenagers love to imitate celebrity to leave an impression of maturity in the minds of others. Adolescents are easily and much influenced by media and the fashion industry. Many of them dream to become a style icon. Earlier, it was only girls who used to be stylish and maintain a high level of fashion. But now the scenario has changed. Even boys follow the fashion and its rules in the same manner as girls do.
They make themselves highly fashionable to look different in the crowd. These days, everybody intends to look different and as a result many times they end up wearing weird clothes and footwear in which they look funny. The obsession of trend sometimes results in spoiling the grades of their school mark sheets. The time they should provide to their text books is spoiled as they engage themselves in reading fashion or film magazines from which they can get more ideas about the recent trend.
