Yes, love is one of the best experiences that human beings can have.
But what type of love?
Not the love which is centred on give or take, is full of expectations and where anger, pride, deceit, greed, likes and dislikes arise. Love that changes with people or situations is not real love.

Love is something which cannot be put into words, it comes straight from the heart and can only be experienced. What most people consider love is merely infatuation and attraction, as it increases and decreases according to one’s emotions at that point of time.
Real love is above all this. Real love is permanent. It stays the same, no matter what others do, because it is unconditional. The entire world can be won over by real love, for real love is constant, unwavering and free from these emotions.

“That which increases one moment and decreases the next is not love: That which resides in the heart and remains the same is real love.” – Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan.
Generally, we do not fully understand what real love is or how it can be expressed to others or accepted. However, fortunately for us, Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan, the Enlightened being, has described the characteristics of true love.

Love remains in the normal bounds – it does not increase or decrease according to situations or people
Love is sincere and it comes straight from the heart
Love does not see faults in anyone
Real love has no hidden motives for self-gain
Love is selfless without any expectations
Love forgives
Where there is love, there is no emotion of anger, pride, deceit, greed, attachment or abhorrence.

Until one attains Self-Realization, love is a human feeling, felt and experienced from the perspective of mind and body. Hence, one tends to judge and evaluate love with their intellect. And that is why this love cannot remain constant. For example, you love your husband tremendously. But the moment he yells at you or goes against what you have suggested, your love changes for him. You start to see his faults and get annoyed. This does not happen when it is real love.

Similarly, you love your child very much. But suddenly, if your child breaks a very expensive gift that you had given to her, you get annoyed and immediately tell her off. This is not considered real love.
The love of the Gnani Purush, an enlightened being, is pure. He loves everyone equally with no motive. He may not personally know everyone, but this love can still be felt in his presence because he has no selfish means to seek anything from anyone.

In order to experience real love in life, one must be aware of the pure Soul which exists in every living being. When you acquire the knowledge of the Self, from a Gnani Purush, you slowly start experiencing real love with all living beings.

This is because real love is above worldly things. Real love is permanent. It stays the same, no matter what others do, and it remains completely unconditional. This love is the best that a human being can have.

Author's Bio:

Ambalal M. Patel was a civil contractor by profession. In June 1958, spontaneous Self-Realization occurred within Ambalal M. Patel. From this point on, Ambalal became a Gnani Purush, and the Lord that manifest within him became known as Dada Bhagwan. A Gnani Purush is One who has realized the Self and is able help others do the same. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan used to go from town to town and country-to-country to give satsang (spiritual discourse) and impart the knowledge of the Self, as well as knowledge of harmonious worldly interactions to everyone who came to meet him. This spiritual science, known as Akram Vignan, is the step-less path to Self-realization.
