IT Support Birmingham Social Network Users Become More Involved
Written by Marcella Hughes
People who interact frequently with their friends on social networking websites perceive those relationships to be stronger than those of those people who are not currently engaging on social networks, according to a recent study.
The report out of the National IT User Center in Sweden says that comments made on status updates and photos serve as constant reminders to users that others are paying attention to whatever it is the user is doing, thinking or feeling. The content of the comment isn't of much importance; its the act itself the impression that the social networker is being noticed that matters more.
This feeling of closeness is the key component to building useful and successful social network sites. When people feel connected to each other, they become more comfortable reaching out and sharing information and theyre also more inclined to help someone further their cause or agenda.
Businesses have tapped into the positive effects of social networking, viewing this consistent form of communication as a better alte ative to the more obvious and traditional approaches to advertising. By updating their statuses and photos frequently on their social network, businesses stay top-of-mind for users who constantly check these sites.
Social networking also works best when the company or group has properly targeted its audience. While Facebooks scope is worldwide, a more customized social networking site may offer businesses and organizations a more close-knit type of communication between them and its customers, fans or members.
To create cause-specific sites, many groups are turning to social-networking makers like SocialGO. If a nonprofit wants to reach out to potential donors and the people it services, then SocialGO will build a site to reflect the organizations mission and goals. Or if a group of mothers want to share parenting resources, or a network of local musicians wants to branch out for more gigs, then their sites will include features that will best serve their communication needs whether its video chats, audio clips or simple status bars.
The evolution of social media is inevitable. And as more people build relationships online, smaller sites, or inner circles, are sure to also keep developing, making the game of social networking more targeted and purposeful.
