Sometimes we have situations where things are not going our way. We may have someone who isn’t doing the thing they should do. We may have others who are having difficult times and are continuously complaining to us about it. We may have issues at work or things at home which seem like huge problems and we have a hard time thinking about anything else.

When it is the other person who is having the problem, it is good for us to be there to listen. It is good to let them talk about what all has happened and possible solutions. We may be able to offer them suggestions about what we have done in the past that has helped. We can ask them questions to help them figure out what their next step could be. We need to take time to be a friend and listen to their concerns.

Psalm 27:14 “Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”

We need to suggest to them to take time to let things work out. It is not always easy to let time take care of some situations. We want to jump in and take control to fix things when we need to give things a little while to work out. We need to give God the situation and let Him work things out in His time. His schedule is not always our schedule. But He always has the best solution.

If we can help them to wait before taking any action, we will have time to talk with them about what God wants them to do. If we can talk to them about what God wants, we will have time to pray with them. If we pray with them, God can work His power through them to give them what they need at that moment when it’s time to handle the situation.

It is not always easy to step up and help someone. Many times we just barely listen and try not to get involved. However, if we will take time to listen to their problems and allow God to help us help them, we can really make a difference in their lives. We need to be brave and courageous to give them the words they need to hear but we need to be sure they are God’s words and not our own. It may not be what they want to hear, but if it is God’s message it is what they need to hear.

When we listen to other people’s problems, we have an opportunity to give the answers God wants us to give them. We can help them to make the right decisions. We can pray for and with them. We can remind them it takes time for the right answers to come and be there for them while they wait. When we take time to listen to others, God can use us to be an example for them and help them in His way to make a difference.
