Japanese scientist unveils 'thinking' robot

A Japanese researcher Osamu Hasegawa has invented a robot that can think and can perform task without any special programs. The report says the robot has developed in such a way that it looks around the environment and do research on Internet and then think best to solve any problem, which is one of the huge inventions till now by scientist.

The existing robots are usually good at processing and performing the tasks they are pre-programmed to do but besides of that this new invention has programmed to understand the environment to gather data to organize the information to set instructions.

The World News report has described a demonstration in its journal that – for serving water, the machine has taught couple of skills just like as holding cup, holding a bottle, pouring water from a bottle, placing the cup down etc and interestingly the machine then complete the task of serving water without special programs. Well, the demonstration clearly shows that, the Machine has arranged the sequence itself and then completes the task to its perfection.

The World News report also reported that – though this machine has the potential to understand the task and complete it with its own instruction but despite of that in some cases the machine asks help when it faces a task beyond its ability and crucially.

According to Osamu Hasegawa this robot will be helpful in future controls and it can be used for practical stuffs such as for controlling traffic lights to monitor traffic jams by analyzing data from public monitors and accident reports. Well, he also said that it could be used in earthquake detection systems where it can aggregate data to identify movements that might prove significant.

In his interview, Osamu Hasegawa said that he is very much careful about robot’s learning process because it might be dangerous for a subject like a kitchen knife which though a useful thing, but it can also become a weapon. So right this time he has said that he has only benign intentions for their invention and he is expecting people to aware of its moral limits.
