Jungle Jewels - Life After Bejeweled Blitz
Written by James Milnar
Have you gotten tired of playing Bejeweled Blitz over and over again? Maybe it’s time for you to try something more challenging that will exercise your mind while still being fun and addictive. If this sounds good to you, then you should try Jungle Jewels.
SIMILARITIES BETWEEN JUNGLE JEWELS AND BEJEWELED BLITZ
There are many similarities between these two games that will make it easier for newcomers to Jungle Jewels to get the hang of the game.
* The goal is still to switch adjacent tiles to make rows of three or more jewels in a single color.
* The jewels will disappear when rows are made and the jewels above will slide down and be replaced by new ones.
* When you make a row of four similar jewels, a special jewel of that color will appear surrounded by red. This jewel, when it disappears, makes all the jewels around it disappear also.
* When a row of five is made, a special rainbow piece will appear. When you switch this piece with a jewel, all the other jewels of that color on the board will disappear.
*The game is still timed.
And this is where the similarities end.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE TWO GAMES
There are some very unique features that make Jungle Jewels completely different tha
Bejeweled Blitz:
* Tasks. These appear in the upper left corner of the screen and show a few lines of different colored jewels. The complete the task, you must try to clear a certain number of each of those colors of jewels. Once this is done, a gold coin will be placed at the top of a row or you will receive a joker.
* Gold coins. Gold coins are one of the rewards for completing a task. The entire point of the game is to get these coins to the bottom of the game board. Doing this will give you parts of a mask, that when finished, will allow you to move on to the next level. Each time you get a coin to the bottom; additional time is added to the clock. The mask in the first level only requires one gold coin to complete and each level requires an additional gold coin.
* Jokers. Jokers allow you to wipe out a vertical row and a horizontal row. You don’t have to use all or any of the jokers, but they can be helpful. Unfortunately, when you use one, the time bonus that gets added for finishing a level is cut in half. As with the gold coins, you can receive one in the first level and an additional one in each increasing level.
