Pregnancy is a great thing to enjoy and go through because it makes a woman feel complete by giving birth to a new life. That awesome feeling cannot be expressed simply by words. Pregnancy is a painful journey for the woman, as many changes both physical and hormonal happens during this. The results are many times unbearable labour pain, vomiting and nausea and other difficulties. Yet, every woman desires to go through the experience, just to see a healthy baby smile.

Talking of a healthy baby, it is of utmost importance to ensure careful growth by close monitoring during pregnancy. Besides, the mother’s comfort is also very necessary. Often, one comes to know of pregnancy by missing a period. A missed period can be detected only after about 30 days of the previous one. By that time, you are already pregnant by about 2 weeks. If you are unaware of that and are not taking enough care to physically relax and rest, along with controlled diet, there can be adverse effect on your baby.

That’s why detecting pregnancy signs on time are so very important. That is not a difficult job however, and what you require is good observation of your own body symptoms, and a bit of medical awareness. No one knows a woman’s body than her own self, and so, it’s the mother who has to first detect and analyze the symptoms.

The first sign is of course a missed period. But while it can lead to delay in prenatal care, there are other signs of pregnancy as well. The most common is developing tenderness in the nipples with a little aching in the breasts. This happens due to the breasts getting ready for lactating. Frequent cramps and nausea can also happen, and they are often misunderstood as pre-menstrual tensions. But they occur due to physical changes inside the uterus that causes these symptoms. There may be bleeding also which can sometimes be thought of as period. But then, the color of blood speaks a lot. A bright red color will essentially imply menstrual cycle, but a dark red color may indicate pregnancy. Also, bleeding earlier than time of the next period have to be taken seriously.

There are sometimes blood shows that cause only spotting of blood and not heavy bleeding. This is a definitive symptom of pregnancy. Some minor and less conspicuous symptoms may be constipation, frequent weeing at night or change in skin texture and spotting. These are all results of physical and hormonal changes occurring in the body. The thing of prime importance is that the detection should be as early as possible in order to initiate proper care.
