Keeping Your Relationship

Most people believe that relationships will bring them happiness. When they enter into the relationship they have a list of expectations as to how things are to go, when things go the way that they want they think that they have found true happiness, however when things do not go according to their plan they find that they are very disappointed and feel that the relationship is not living up to its full potential. When you enter into a relationship and you set expectations that are too high, you set yourself up for disappointment. There is nothing wrong with expecting certain things out of the relationship, the problem comes in when you are not willing to venture off that course just a little bit.
A relationship is not just about one person; it's about the two parties that are involved in it. One person should not set expectations alone. A couple needs to work together to come up with what they both want to happen in the relationship, this actually works best because in a relationship you are supposed to be a team and as old saying goes, there is no letter I in the word team.
In order to have a good healthy relationship, you need to realize that the happiness that you receive from the relationship should come from the work that you and your partner both put in together. When you work together to have that happiness, you will feel that you will appreciate it a lot more. Happiness should not revolve around your wants. Happiness in any relationship should revolve around what each of you wants. It is okay for you to expect him to do certain things for you, but you must also be willing to do your part and do things to make him happy as well.
When things do not go your way in the relationship, do not blame your partner. It is selfish for you to blame your partner when things do not go your way, because you should not have placed your own personal expectation within the relationship. You only have yourself to blame when things don't go the way that you plan. Constantly blaming someone when they don't do things up to your expectations is a very quick way to make your relationship end. It is not their fault that you want one thing and you received the other.
Learn to listen to your partner and communicate with them. Communication is the key to all successful relationships. Without communication you will have nothing. One person cannot be on one page and the other five pages behind. You both need to be on the same page and constantly communicating your needs to each other.
When you are in a relationship, you need to have patience. By displaying patience to your partner, you are showing that you are willing to stand by their side and give them the time that they need to get to where they need to be. Maybe you need to slow your pace down, so that your partner to catch up. When you walk together in your relationship, you will find that you will have happiness together. Just because they are not moving along at your pace, does not mean that they are not worth you waiting for. Some people a little bit more time to get to where they need to be in a relationship.
It is very important to be in tune with each other when you are in a committed relationship; after all you are trying to turn this relationship into something that will be long-term. You will need to work with your mate to keep your relationship at the place that it needs to be in order for the both of you to succeed in it.
