Now that you're engaged and you've been planning your wedding, it's time to think about your wedding invitations. If you're confused by the proper way to address your wedding invitations, then you are not alone. A lot of couples are confused by the details of addressing wedding invitation envelopes, however, you have nothing to worry about because the process is not as difficult as it seems.

Do you know someone who has great handwriting? If so, you may want to ask them to address the envelopes, instead of having several different people address the envelopes. When the same person addresses the invitations, it gives the invitations a more polished look. This is especially important for the inner and outer envelopes because you don't want your guests to open their invitation and see that one envelope is printed with blue ink and another envelope is written in calligraphy with black ink. However, if you don't know anyone who can address the invitations, you can always print labels for the envelopes.

Are you trying to stick to a strict budget and you don't want your guests to bring a guest if they aren't married? The way to eliminate this is all in the wording on the invitation. If you are inviting a friend who is single, the envelope should read, Ms. Joan Smith. If you want your guests to bring a guest, you would address the envelope: Ms. Joan Smith and Guest. Do you want your guests to bring their children? If you don't want your guests to bring children, just include the names of the adults on the invitation, and omit the names of the children. Most couples will not mind this because they will probably welcome a night out without the kids.

If you are inviting couples who are living together but are not married, instead of sending out two invitations, simply address the envelope: Mr. Matthew Jones and Ms. Joan Smith. Most guests will have the common courtesy to adhere to your rules, so once your invitations are properly addressed, you don't have to worry about your guests bringing extra people if you didn't specify it on the invitations.

In order to keep track of the guests who are planning on attending, it is a good idea to number the cards so when people send them back, you will have a more accurate count.
In the digital age, many couples are choosing to rely on the internet to help them organize their weddings. If you want to save money on save the date cards, consider sending out electronic save the date notices. These types of notices will help you to save money and they cater to the digital lifestyle of your guests.

If you want to avoid having your guests send RSVP cards, you may want to consider having your guests RSVP at a wedding website that you and your fiancé create. Keep in mind that some older guests may not be comfortable with this concept, and you don't want to inconvenience your guests, so you should make the process easy for them.
