Learning French - How Useful is the French Language?

French is the only foreign language that is considered to be a global language, alongside English. it is second in popularity only to English, and can be useful in the United States as well as the rest of the world. It is taught throughout the world and is spoken in five continents.
French is also the official language of the United Nations, UNESCO and several other international organizations, apart from English.
When choosing a language at school, French is the best bet as it will open up more choices at a later point of time, either for further studies or even in the career. Many literary works related to the social sciences and others have come from France, and students who know the French language are at an advantage of gaining access to these works much before they are translated into English. There are also said to be several works that have never been translated into English. In graduate schools throughout the United States, students commonly take French as the foreign language.
Statistics reveal that Americans employed by French companies run into hundreds of thousands and millions of Americans are said to speak French in their homes.
There is a saying that in order to truly understand the culture of a country, it is important to know the language. France not only has a rich history, but the American society is highly influenced by its culture.
French is considered to be the language of the future. With the French language holding so much importance around the globe, it helps people from all walks of life to be familiar with the language.
