Learn the lesson!

How many times have you been told to learn the lesson? How many times have you offered this advice to others? The questions follow, “What lesson?” and “How do I learn it?”

First some background:

All life forms are symbiont beings. The physical shell is a vehicle which provides a rich experience of touch, smell, and taste. The ete
al, true self provides life, wisdom, and emotion. The body is created from the dark elements of the earth while the true self is made from a more pure substance (light). The body is full of pain, self doubt, and enmity while the true self is full of joy, trust, and love.

This world is a special class room for us to learn. Here, we embody both light and darkness. We are the embodiment of the pure light of the true self and the darkness of the earthly elements. Only through being the embodiment of both can we have a choice. What is the choice? The choice is to learn who we truly are and to grow strong in the knowledge.

Knowing the symbiont nature of life shines light on how to learn the lesson. Life offers a mixture of pain, and joy. We typically prefer the joy and shun the pain, but some times the pain keeps coming back even when we make different choices.

A friend of mine was unhappy in his marriage. He chose to divorce his wife thinking that she was making his life miserable. He married another wife and found himself in the same painful spot. A third time was no better. He asked me, “How can I learn the lesson?”

This is what came of our conversation:

1. Identify what the pain is. This is not a blame game. The person who is serving the lesson is a teacher nothing more. Voice the pain in personal terms. “I feel Y when X happens.” In my friends case, Y was helpless and small.

2. Think back to a time when this feeling was first served up to you. Recount that experience to someone else. Travel in your mind to each time the feeling was served up to you. Who was there? How did you feel? This is a very personal thing write these experiences down. If emotion flows, let it flow.

3. This school of life is a custom deal. You chose ahead of time a team of teachers who have absolute subconscious commitment to you to teach you the lessons of your life you wanted most. That's why the lesson keeps being served, and at ever greater levels of pain. This is important stuff.

4. What is the opposite of the pain you feel? In my friends case the opposite of helpless and small is a feeling being cherished. This is the truth of who he is. What is your truth? Think of times when you have felt this joy of truth. Who was there? What was happening. Your team of teachers is hard at work here too, but we seldom learn the lessons served in joy. If your pain has crowded out these memories dig deep. They are there. Balance in the universe demands it!

5. The conflict you feel when pain is served is the wisdom of your true self clashing with the fear of your body. Your true self knows the lessons you came here to learn, but your body fears the opposite to be true. In my friends case he feared being betrayed and this fear was realized in his relationships. The fear created the very thing he feared.

6. Learning the lesson is becoming the embodiment of truth. Now that you know what the truth is. Become the embodiment of truth. In my friends case he cherished everyone in his space. His third wife, his children, the bum on the street (boy there is a story), Everyone! He set about cherishing all of his teachers even his first and second wife! That's when I knew he had truly learned the lesson. He became the embodiment of his truth! You can too.

Here is the end note. My friend lives in joy now because he gets it. Those in his life are a reflection of the lesson he has learned. People he hardly knows cherish him and want to be thoughtful, kind and generous with him. Yes even x-wife 1 and 2. Imagine that! On occasion a teacher shows up with some pain to serve in the old lesson department, just to see if he still remembers. He does. The pain just motivates him to higher levels of being the truth by cherishing a wider circle of friends.
