Our doctor daughter has decided to go into medical practice in Utah. It has broken my heart. She has been in school her entire life and she is 33 and finishing her fellowship. We had always hoped she would come home to Atlanta so we could do all the girl bonding fun things we love to do. We love to watch goofy movies, shop, eat very long meals together, take naps, take long walks and laugh a lot. It’s hard to let go of a deep longstanding dream. I’d hoped I could have her back after her many years of being gone so we could play together. Now I am condemned to long distance phone calls, intermittent meetings at holidays and not smelling her hair, or watching her hair grow or just feeling her next to me. I am a mom, just trying to let go. It’s so hard to let go of a dream.
