Life Coaching - How It Works

There has been a growing interest in coaching in recent years. More and more people and organisations recognise its value. Coaching has become particularly relevant in our fast- moving world where people are striving to balance work life, finances, health and social life.nnSo how does life coaching work? Coaching can be face-to-face, by telephone or even by email. Your relationship with your coach is a partnership. It is not them telling you what to do with your life. You, as the client, decide the agenda. You are in control. It is based on working on areas of your life that are important to you. Obviously there is a series of conversations and a structured plan that the coach uses, but it is not a 'one for all' fit. The sessions last for an agreed amount of time, usually 1 hour - 1 hour and 15 minutes. The coach will help you stay focused on the goals you have set and encourage and challenge you to move forward towards achieving these goals. Between scheduled coaching sessions, you will probably be asked to complete specific action steps that support the achievement of your own personal goals. For example, if one of your goals is to drink more water, your action step will be to buy water during your grocery shop. It may seems stupid and extremely simple, but by setting goals and then everyday action steps, you are going to achieve your goals. Plus you have someone that knows that you are trying to achieve and you are meeting with them once a week, or twice a month, so you are accountable to them. nn
