In life we usually have a guide or instruction to show us how to get where we want to go. If we are looking for a job, we know the procedure, send resumes, fill out applications, interview and it helps if you have connections. If you want to buy a car or house, you know the procedure; check your credit score, etc. Someone has travelled that road before, so there is a blueprint for us to follow. Frank Salter’s said “you can learn from the word of God or other people’s mistakes (wisdom) or we can learn from our own mistakes (experience). You can choose to do things the hard way or the easy way”. My suggestions and advice is that you choose the easy way, choose wisdom.
But what happens when there is a place where God wants us to go and there is no blueprint or we do not think we have access to the blueprint. What if God wants to do a new thing in you? What if God wants us to do it another way? It is not easy to learn to trust God because we are accustomed to being in control. But the more you do it Gods way the easier it gets to trust Him because you know He has your best interest in mind. Learning to trust God can stress you out. But God will give you a blueprint. Maybe not the whole layout at one time, but He will give you direction.
Noah found grace in the eyes of God and God told Noah to make an ark, and told him how to make it, what kind of wood to use and what size it should be. He instructed him who and what to bring on board. He established his covenant with Noah. Noah did not know all the details, but he knew God was going to do what he said.
God told Abraham to leave his family and go to another land and he would prosper him there. Abraham whose wife was barren was told by God that his seed would outnumber the stars. Abraham and Sarah were old, they did not know how God was going to do it, they even tried to help God out, they knew God was going to do what he said.
When Moses and the Israelites, with Joseph’s bones, were at the Red Sea and the Egyptians were in pursuit, he did not know how they were going to get across. But he did know God had a plan for the rest of the way.
Elijah said unto the people of Israel, how long will you be of two opinions, if the Lord be God, follow Him, If Baal, follow him. Elijah requested a demonstration for the people. He had Baal’s prophets dress a bull and he dressed a bull for the sacrifice. The god that answered by fire (lit the fire under the bull for sacrifice) was god. Baal’s prophets called, jumped, prayed and danced all day, but no fire. Elijah called on his God and He lit the fire and consumed the water and the sacrifice. Elijah did not know how God was going to do it, but he knew that his God was God and that He was going to do it.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego told King Nebuchadnezzar that the God we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of the thine hand. They did not know how, but they knew He would.
When the angel of the Lord came to Mary, who was engaged to Joseph and told her she had found favor with God and would conceive a son and should name him Jesus; said be it unto me according to thy word. She did not ask what about Joseph, what is he going to think. She obviously trusted God that He was going to take care of everything.
The woman with the issue of blood did not know how she would be healed, but she knew she had to at least touch the hem of Jesus garment. Who would have thought you could touch someone’s clothes and be healed. But once she touched Jesus garment she was healed. She was actively trying to be healed, she had spent money trying to be healed. She was not just sitting at home wishing and hoping she would be healed. If you are home ill, read your bible and believe God for your healing, actively get involved in your healing. You do not know how God is going to do it.
My suggestion and advice is do not wait to see where the water is coming from before you start building the ship. Do not wait to see how you are getting to the promise land before you leave captivity. You do not have to know how God is going to deliver you from your enemies; just trust Him that He will. You do not have to know how God is going to do things, you just have to trust God that He is. All of the people above had to take a step of faith, not knowing how God was going to do what he said, but trusting Him that He was going to do what He said. If none of them had moved, never taken a step of faith, we might not be reading about them today. Know that if God wants to do a new thing, He will confirm, order your footsteps and direct your path.
With God all things are possible, and we do not have to know how.
How do you learn to trust God? 1) read your bible daily, it is your blueprint 2) pray daily; add the details to your blueprint 3) do what the word of God tells you to do. Be obedient 4) turn the situation over to Him, let it go 5) actively wait on God
His ways are higher than our ways; his thoughts are higher than our thoughts. In Proverbs 3:5-6 it tells us to trust the Lord with all of our hearts and not to lean to our own understanding. In ALL of our ways we are to acknowledge Him and He will direct our paths. David said, I was young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken nor their seed begging bread.
You do not have to know everything.
Learn from the word of God or other peoples mistakes, choose wisdom. My desire is that my speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that I may know how to answer every person. To bring healing to others with my words.
