Liposuction: An Effective Way to Reconstruct Your Personality
Written by Benu Mohania
A well-known cosmetic surgery, liposuction procedure, is used to eliminate fat from thighs, stomach, abdomen, buttocks, back of the arms and even in the chest area. Commonly known as lipoplasty or simply lipo, the procedure involves removal of fat cells, which do not shrink even after engaging in dietary controls or physical activities. The part of the body from the where fat has to be removed is decided by the patient or the recognized specialists.
The entire surgery is performed under a general anesthetic. A stainless steel instrument called cannula is attached to a suction device, which is used to perform the liposuction procedure. With small cuts or incisions, this thin and hollow tube (cannula) is inserted between skin and muscle of the fatty areas to remove excess fat. To reduce the possible trauma and excessive bleeding, various sterile solutions are inserted through these incisions in the patient's body. This loosens the excess fat in the body, which can be easily secreted with the aid of a suction pump or a large syringe. Assuring safety, hygiene, effectiveness and speedy recovery, these liposuction procedures result in a smoother appearance and improved body contour, without significant weight reduction.
On the contrary, another commonly employed technique for fat removal is the tumescent liposuction. This is performed by injecting a requisite amount of fluid into the fatty area of the human body directly. The direct injection procedure restricts the use of general anesthesia, which reduces the possibility of damage to the skin, muscles and blood vessels. Liposuction procedures in recent times have seen major developments, as a reliable and advanced procedure to eliminate extra fat in the human body. Recent technological advancements have made these procedures more successful and comfortable as compared to the traditional ones.
