Live Without Fear

What if I could guarantee you that whatever you tried, you could not fail. Think about that, whatever you tried you are assured that it would be successful. How would that change you current way of thinking and acting in all areas of your life and specifically in your business?

Why would this guarantee change your life and actions? It is because our biggest fear is the fear of failure. The fear of failure keeps us from trying something new and taking a risk. However, without trying something new and taking a risk, our situation will not change. It is only when we do something new and different that our business results will change. Vincent Van Gogh said, “The key to success is for you to make a habit throughout your life of doing the things you fear.” Muhammad Ali said, “He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.”

Stop and think. What would really be the worst thing that would happen if I tried this and it didn’t work out? Most times we dramatically overstate what would happen in the negative and understate what would happen in the positive. We will see ourselves losing everything and all our friends and family leaving us or not having any faith in us again. This is probably not what would happen especially if our friends and family saw us committing ourselves 100% to making this work. In fact, the reason most people fail is because they don’t commit themselves 100%.

Can I guarantee you that anything you try will be successful? No. But I can guarantee you this. If you will take your ideas and plans and talk about them with a trusted, successful mentor who can help you think through the positives and negatives, then your potential for success will increase. Also, once you make a decision, commit yourself and your team to completing the task successfully. Act and believe that failure is not an option. Everyone needs to say to themselves and others, “we are committed to making this work, no matter what.” With this type of effort, it is almost assured that you will have positive results.

John Steinbeck said, “It is the nature of man to rise to greatness if greatness is expected of him.” When your team sees your commitment and willingness to take action, this will raise the enthusiasm and expectation of everyone. Even if you don’t hit your target, you will get positive results which will encourage the team to take more risks. This momentum to grow and challenge the normal way of doing business will transform your business into a leader. Live and act as if failure is not an option or even a possibility and see what you can accomplish.
