In 1805, it was attacked by the British. The castle was partly re-established by the authorities during the last decade and now it is an important part of Spanish history. Santa Clotidle Gardens at the top of a cliff are also worth visiting for some very amazing views of the city and coast from here. These gardens were designed by the famous artist Nicoolau Rubio and set up more than a century ago. These gardens are in the Renaissance style, with terraces and are a wonderful place to enjoy the natural beauty and peace all around.
