Obesity is often caused by people taking too many calories in the form of food than they are actually burning off through physical activities. The World Health Organization has predicted that nearly a billion people will be obese, and about 2 billion will be overweight. Being overweight actually brings about many potential health risks.
First of all, obesity will add pressure to your joints, as your joints will have to take a heavier weight. There is actually a strong correlation between belly fat and type 2 diabetes. Fortunately for you, you will still be able to reverse the effects of obesity with a good diet and exercise plan. If you leave diabetes untreated, it can eventually lead to many other health problems, such as kidney failure, limb amputation and more! Also, these conditions will likely reduce your expected life expectancy.
People with a body mass index (BMI) of greater than 30 actually have a very real risk of suffering from high cholesterol, high blood pressure, cancer, heart attack, diabetes and stroke. If you identify yourself as having a BMI of above 30, you should really start losing weight now, not only to look better, but more importantly to get your health back in order as well!
Studies have shown that there is a correlation between the amount of excess body fat and how the human body is able to utilize glucose. Research has shown that fat cells will release a protein, and this particular protein will actually cause you to develop type 2 diabetes!
As you accumulate more excess body fats, you will soon experience glucose intolerance. At this point in time, your body will no longer be able to produce sufficient insulin to help you balance out your blood sugar levels. Research has shown a direct link between obesity and type 2 diabetes. The higher your BMI over 30, the higher the chances you get diabetes.
Just like obesity itself, type 2 diabetes can actually be cured or prevented. If you are overweight and suffer from diabetes, exercising intensely for 20 to 30 minutes for at least 4 days a week will really help you lose weight quickly and effectively. Also, when you lose weight, the amount of medication you need to keep your diabetes in control will be significantly lowered. Therefore, losing weight is not only about helping yourself look good; fat loss will also help you combat many health related issues!
