These are the top reason, in my opinion, why you should really make your kid go to summer camps:

.) Number one reason for me is for the kids to build a character. Camps provide children with the core values of a strong, moral individual by teaching them about ethics, respect, honesty, caring and responsibility. Studies have shown that a good number of parents have reported that after going to camps, they have noticed their children were generally a lot kinder, that they understood the importance of giving, were more keen to stand up for what they know is right, and were willing to become more responsible.

.) Second is in connection with the first one. You can send your kid to camps so that they learn to face challenges and begin to learn the value of hard work in the process. Camps push children to face certain challenges. And because they feel safe at camp, youngsters are comfortable taking healthy risks and setting personal goals. In turn, counselors can help campers pursue these goals by constantly encouraging the kids to try their hardest at all times. Children learn the importance of working hard to accomplish what they want and to never give up, all in a low-stress setting at a camp.

.) With today's new gadgets and gizmos, it's easy for your kids to dump the idea of playing outside in exchange for playing their favorite video games. At camp, you can get them to do all kinds of physical activities therefore making them stay healthy and fit. Plus, during the school year, children don't always have the time or energy for the outdoor activities and exercise they should be taking part in. Camp gets kids to stay active and fit in a natural, social environment where children can constantly be doing some kind of physical activity. A camp focused on sports and physical activities can greatly improve a young person's overall well-being and can lead to establishing healthy lifestyle patterns for the long term.

.) Now that we're through with the more serious reasons for joining your kids to a summer camp, here's the fun side of things. One reason to get your kids to join a summer camp is TO HAVE A LOT OF FUN. Period. The number one goal of any well-run camp program is making sure children have the time of their lives. Summer camp is a much needed break from the academic year where creativity, adventure, thrills, smiles and just plain old good times are the priority. It is not school. There are no tests or equations you have to solve in camps. Camps exist to help children learn and grow while being completely free to enjoy themselves and their surroundings. Between new friends and new experiences, it is an exciting and happy part of growing up that no camper will ever forget.

.) When you're having fun, it's easy to make new friends. And that's another good thing your kids can experience when they join camps. They bring your child in contact with kids from different schools, communities and backgrounds, showing them that the world is bigger than the small community they are used to. Children who are away from their normal circumstances react in new ways, and going to camp allows kids to break out of their "little shells". There are also these specialty camps which are focused on one interest area allowing campers to make new friends who enjoy similar activities, while exposing them to a good amount of diversity.
